Who is Motocadia? And do you have any trading licence?
Motocadia is a Lda, this is a Limited company
in Portugal, our company number is P506614972 and our registration number is
3594 / 2031222. We specialise in small organised tours of Portugal, with
Motocadia Lda providing everything except your flight Motocadia is licensed by
the Portuguese Ministry of Tourism and the Portuguese Ministry of Transport, at
this time we are the only licensed company able to offer guided and none guided
motorcycle tours in Portugal. Copies of licence available on request.
What kind of insurance do you have?
Please see the section on insurance. We can not have our licences from the above mentioned government bodies without ö civil liability insurance, adequate motorcycle cover, repatriation insurance, hospital cover for accidents. All these are available from your guide, and copies of the main sections will be in your riders pack on arrival.
How many riders are there on each tour?
Motocadia wants to keep the tour very personal and special. There are usually 3 bikes on each tour, plus the guide.
What clothes should I bring?
The dress is casual. Bring your helmet, riding gear, rain gear (just in case), bathing suit, t-shirts, jeans, and sweater or sweatshirt, etc.
Is a helmet mandatory?
Yes, Portuguese law requires a helmet.
Will I need an international driving license?
A valid EU driverâs license is accepted for the duration of the Motocadia tour, or an international driving permit if from outside of the EU ö these are available from your local driving organisation in your home country.
Who are the other riders on the tour?
Our riders come from around the world. Some are very experienced, some have only been riding for a short period. It does not matter, speed is not important, as the guide will the lead the group at the correct pace.
Are there planning sessions for the routes?
When you sign-up for a Motocadia tour you'll receive a handbook, listing all the routes, and a Michelin map with the routes highlighted in colour.
Do I need to bring travellerâs cheques?
No, Portugal has ATM machines, which will except any card with the VISA sign. Most are linked to international money networks CIRRUS and PLUS÷check your bank card.
What extra cash will I need?
You'll need cash for all meals (except breakfasts), snacks, petrol / gas, tolls. Extra purchases might include souvenirs and regional specialties.
Can I bring my own bike?
If you wish to bring your own bike, you'll be responsible for its transportation overseas, service, insurance, etc.
What about my luggage?
Motocadia will transport your luggage and any additional items that you purchase on the tour.
How experienced are the other riders on the tour?
The riders on the tour are diversified. Some have been riding for years, others only a year. You will be able to ride at your own pace. Your comfort is important to us, and many riders have been able to learn advanced riding skills by following closely behind the guides.
Can my club design its own route?
For your motorcycle club of 8 or more members, Motocadia will custom-design a route to your specifications and desires.
I do not ride often will this be an issue?
The tour is designed for riders who are not always on their bike due to work and other commitments. The BMW F650GS touring has been selected for this exact reason ö it is easy to ride, full of torque, and easy to handle ö easy to feel at home very quickly, even if you are a little rusty!
What style of accommodation is offered?
The standard is a European 3 star, with private washing facilities, some have swimming pools, and some will be small privately run manor houses, or properties with some character.
How far will we ride each day?
The average is 130 miles (200kms), the odd day a little more, plus stops for special attractions, snacks, and lunch. Hours in the saddle: approximately 6 hours per day.
